Maybe the 04's are different but on my 99' and a buddy's 02', they're not prewired. The subwoofer-headunits will plug in, light up and work, but there was no bass at all.

not all crew and extednded cabs
My 07 screw fx4 didn't come with the part for sub under rear seat it had the front plug but that terminates at the drivers kick panel.it has to be in the harness from there out and it is not in all of the most but not all and not all Larriats or fx4 or anything else garentees you have it.I have to do what is in the first half and run my own seperate 5 wire harness to mine.

Right... they are all prewired from the dash but about 50% or so have the extension harness just looped up under the LF seat. Clarification fail for me.

This is true Lenn. I only wish we could get the search function used in topics like this. It's been discussed many times as to the harness running to the back seat area, stuffed under the carpet. Some posters have even gone to great lengths in posting pictures of where it can be found. These posts get buried in time.
It was written up that there were several Ford radios used. One poster also placed pics of the back of these radios identifying the plugs; which plug got used for what function. More than likely, these posts and pics will be found in the stereo/audio forum here.
I will no doubt get hammered (again) for suggesting that the search be used.
