Oh, I wouldn't say it can't be done, it just can't easily be done. If you're good at soldering and reading the pinout diagrams for the various connectors, it can be done. Although you'll probably need a dual usb port - one for the Android, and the other for the Apple stuff. Each will have to be wired diffferently, depending on the audio output from their respective connectors. I'll research it if you want and tell you how to do it.

I would really appreciate it if you looked.. What i was thinking was using a usb to rca cable from the adapter. Then cutting the cable open and just tap into a 12v line somewhere for power. But i have no idea if it will work.. Ive looked all over the internet and cant find anything..

After doing some research of my own, I figured out the problem with trying to do this. Powering the device (phone, etc.) from a usb port is not a problem, but getting the audio out of it is. In a standard iPhone cable (for example), the audio comes out of the usb end as data, and the device you plug it into converts the data stream to audio. So stereo head units that have usb ports convert the data to audio, which the stock unit won't do. I'm not aware of any stand alone unit that will do the conversion.

ok, you got a couple of options, I think you if are good with eletronics, make the usb feed into the aux side of your dash. easy enough. Also that usb jack in your pic, is almost unavaliable. So you better get another idea. I know because i have been at this for weeks now trying to find something like that. I eneded up with this. http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Bmw_Usb/ES2194690/

they make one with an aux jack as well, nice little setup,

good luck.

adeath - i really appreciate your looking man.. I understand what you're saying.. Let me know if you find anything that will do the converting.. I'm still going to keep looking.. Do the new fords convert in their HU or do they have a stand alone unit(like what I'm looking for), does anyone know?

dfris - will that convert the USB to the right format? And do you know what cable plugs into that? I could try to wire that into my HU... ?

If anyone comes across this that has to nads to try, please share your results.

alyons, not sure excatly what you are wanting, your factory unit, has an aux input. If your using a phone, or mp3 player, etc.. its going to read the format, and play it, all you got to do, is get the output to the factory unit, in aux mode, this can be dune in the 3.5mm jack or a usb input. the usb has 4 pins, power, ground and inputs simple just google usb. You can always just get a sub to aux jack and then just solder it into the radio head, if you dont have an aux input in the back.

I'm trying do do the same kinda
My 2010 f150 XLT has the headphone jack but no USB.

So if I can pick up that USB block and put that in place of the headphone jack
That would give me
Phone charger
Clear music
And 1 small cable
Not 2
