The gotts mod is not the issue and neither is the tuner issue itself. If the stock program runs fine and the tuner one does not it has to be either the setting on the canned tune of an issue with the ECU when the tune writes causing this lag issue as a side effect.
Depending on the tuner, some canned programs are more "extensive" than others. I can run canned SCT tunes on my truck but not the 93 perf tune from Edge or SCT as the truck is lean as hell with my intake. If you can with whatever tuner you have can you monitor the MAF and MAF voltage to see if it is giving skewed reading? How about fuel trims? With the gotts mod and the canned tune there should be no issue regardless of tuner the air passing the MAF does not change enough to cause the issue you are describing.
