Default Help with imminent purchase

Ever since I'd seen the Harley Editions I've wanted one. The fire was further fueled recently when my son-in-law bought a brand new Platinum F-150. I have always been (and still am) a GM guy on the domestic front and a Subaru guy on the import side. After researching and speaking with owners of every brand I convinced myself that Ford is the way to go for trucks.

That being said I'm looking for a clean, decent miles mid-2000's HD F-150.

Question.......are any years better than others (or should I say less prone to mechanical/design issues). I know that GM tweeks and changes stuff from year to year on vehicles, particularly the Corvette line, so I know to stay away from certain years based upon those changes. So is a 2006 F-150 better than a 2005? Is the 2007 better than the 2006? Etc.......

Any input would be very much appreciated. I'm in the market as I type and I'm in the low $20K buying range. I'm guessing that puts me 2006/-07 with decent miles.

'04 - '05 have the most bugs and '08 has the least. Tons of info about it on the site for what to look for and what to steer clear of.

I am going to assume that the HD model only has the 5.4. If that is the case, go with an 08 for the upgraded heads.

If you have $20k you should look at a 2009-2011! I live in AZ (prices may be different) and was searching for a 09, but just didn't have enough money. but most of the 09-11 models that were lifted or even stock were about 18-23k. Granted that's in Arizona, but hey who knows! I'd for sure go with a 2008, seems like the later models in most vehicles are the ones with the least kinks of that model!

Yes, avoid 04-07. 2008 is the only year that I would purchase. (or later)
