If you are really in the market for a used truck, I'd wait and thoroughly sift through the "junk". Remember that most 5.4's will tick eventually. 4.6 will more than likely carry anything you need to. However, I don't agree with the notion of trading a good car away for a money pit. These trucks can get expensive quickly. My honest opinion, keep the car until you're gainfully employed, this way you won't be gathering pennies to make ends meet.
