right now i have an 07 regular cab f150, but my parents are taking that back and they are gonna get me an fx4 extended cab for college. i want to lift it but i dont want to spend all of my money on gas while im a college. one of my friends said you can regear it and put in a chip. anyone know how difficult this is and how much money were talking about here.

Ummm if you are worried about fuel mileage buy a Toyota PriOS. You are going to be driving a truck. A truck that you want to lift and put bigger tires on. Why not jsut spend that money on gas. Hell why get a 4wd to go to school in? Keep the 2wd.

my truck now is 2wd and i cant have fun with it. my parents want the truck back when i go to college so they are gonna get me an 05. but do you know anything about that chip or the gears

you can not use a chip in the newer PCMs, you must use a flash tuner (SCT Xcal2/3), dont bother regearing it, it costs too much.if you are worried about fuel mileage, why are you getting somehting that will get less mileage than the vehicle you have now. Tell the 'rents to save the money and help pay for books.

if you want something you can have fun in, get a job and pay for the truck yourself.

I have ALOT of fun with my 2wd. I go where I want when I want as fast as I want. Yes you can get a tuner 400.00 and custom tunes 150.00 and have the front and rear gears done 1200.00. Will any of that save mileage.. No not with a lifted truck with bigger tires.

I do bust my ***. Nothing i own is handed to me. I work everyday for all the toys i own. I ask for nothing ever. I slave to put toys on my truck and it makes me feel good i dont owe a damn dime to anyone but the bank.

how is that spoiled? i work my *** of in school to get a 3.8 and get into UGA, them buying me an fx4 is to say goodjob. and i do have a job, thats how i pay for my ****. hate to turn this into an argument, but honestly dont judge someone by one post. if you want to see spoiled you should come to my school where a 35,000 truck is not uncommon, and those kids dont even pay for their own gas or insurance.
