8000# trailer!!
Hey guys, my old man wants me to pull his 28' camper about
50 miles away to a storage facility. My truck is a 04 xl 4.6 8ft bed,
2wd, 3.55 gear. The camper weighs a lil over 8000#, I think it has
A tow package but not sure. Will it pull it ok? Thanks chad

Don't do it.
I have the same truck (with tow package)and pulled my dads 7000lb boat a short distance and it HATED it. It did it, but I wouldn't have wanted to go any further. Dangerous and really beat on the truck.
Told him I was never hooking up to it again.

Too many ????'s to answer it fully... What does the road look like, do you have a brake controller, what type of hitch do you have, what are the weather conditions, etc????

It's possible. But you're truck isn't going to like it.

I think that trailer is a few 100lbs over your trucks GVWR and that is never a good thing. If the distance isnt far, and you don't anticipate a vast amount of stopping, starting, I would try. You'll know within 10' if your truck is going to like it enough to do the job for you, or if she's just gonna say " that trailer i aint pullin it no where"
ONLY ATTEMPT if you have a hitch (OEM or AM), and not a ball on your bumper.

you should see the abuse my dad puts his truck through, towing huge farm wagons around with only bumper hitch, i towed a 30 foot combine header home, it was like 70 miles, i am not sure of the weight, but the truck was constantly shifting gears and top speed of like 80 km/h and down to 40 km/h on some hill, so i am sure it was likely more then 8000 pounds

you are way over the weight limits for that truck to move that trailer.
Cripes I have the HD payload package and 4.10 gears and I would think long and hard before I tried it, and my truck is rated for that amount!

Does it have a factory class IV hitch, a 7 pin plug and an aux trans cooler?
I have basicly the same truck with a tow package and brake controller. I think my truck is rated to tow 6300 lbs, yours is probably pretty close to that.
I would probably do it if the road wasnt too bad (steep hills or bumpy, ect). I wouldnt do it on a regular basis, maybe just a one time deal, it wouldnt be "good" for the truck but it certainly wont self destruct and whether its safe depends more on how you drive than the tow rating of your truck.
