6000 Lb. Mid Rise Lift
I am planning to purchase a mid rise (scissor) lift for my two cars - 74 Porsche 914 and 2008 Toyota Corolla. The 6000 lb. lift will easily deal with the two cars but I am wondering about using it for my 2007 F150 SuperCrew truck. The Vin Decoder says the curb weight is about 5400 lb. and I don't really store anything else in the back so it looks like it will be within the lift capacity of the lift. Does anyone know if the Vin Decoder curb weight is accurate?
The real question is: how do I determine where to position the truck above the lift so it is evenly balanced? I will be using the truck adapters which allow clearance but I am unsure where the lift pads should be positioned. Anyone out there with experience using one of these lifts?

Had my truck on the scale yesterday at the dump and without me in it she weighed in at 5500(truck empty). I have an 05 2wd Scab.
Although I have never used a scissor lift on a F150, the post lifts I have used we put the pads where the frame started to arch up on front, and where the rear leaf spring mount is on rear.

Why not get a two post lift?

I would love to have a 2 or 4 post lift but I don't really have room in the garage for the posts. I have thought about the MaxJax portable lift but the storage of the posts would be a problem.
A 4 post lift would be ideal for me because then I could store my 914 during the winter and park the toyota below but my wife has said "definitely NO". She is afraid that while backing out of the garage, she will hook one of the posts and knock the car off the top onto one of the other cars - I decided it is not worth arguing with her about it and the mid rise scissor lift is a good compromise.
