Default PCM failure because of cruise control switch

Hi I am new to this forum and have just got a 2004 fx4 f150 with 82500 miles. I recently found out that my cruise control was not working so I took it into the dealership and they said I had a faulty cruise control switch. Upon replacing this they then told me that the old switch had shorted out part of my PCM and said it would be 1400 dollars to replace. Please if anyone can tell me anything about this. What is the PCM model number I need to replace if I purchase it from somewhere besides the dealer then have them flash it. Cruise control still doesnt work and I happen to drive on the highway quiet often. Every bit of help is much appreciated.
