Default Winter

Yup. I actually ran 4.4l of 0w40 with 2l of 0w20 mixed in over the last part of the winter (feels like it's over early this year). Both castrol synthetic. It ran really well and started perfectly even in the cold.
A week ago I changed the oil out for a "summer" fill, petro canada duron 5w40.

I had a couple of 4l jugs on hand and figured it would work fine in the warmer weather and while towing our travel trailer. Runs incredibly quietly and starts without so much a clatter. I use FL820s filters only.

Even with the 0w20/0w40 mix (january to march), i could just hear a little bit of ticking after a hard highway drive that got the oil up to temperature, just off idle. slight phaser tick, but I'm always listening for it. That is completely gone at any time with the Duron.

I have 1.5 jugs of castrol 0w40 waiting for the fall oil change. Going to run that through the next winter.

Also on a side note, after recently switching to 5w30, I have zero idea how people are still running the 5w20 oil... seriously night and day

It does.... But at a much higher price than what you can buy quarts for at Walmart.

I have a Silver with two-tone grey at the bottom and grey bumpers, I was actually thinking of doing black plastidip on the bumpers and the lower panels as well as my stock fender flairs. I say go for it, if you use plastidip, you can always peel it off if you don't like it. Let us know and post pics if you do it.

Unless that's used oil along the bottom of the truck, you're in the wrong thread. Start a new one of your own.

Drained out my 2 day old Motorcraft 5w 20, why? Because its pure garbage. It made my truck idle like ****, everything shook, oil pressure dropped. And brand new phasers started ticking.

Great post! Your oil pressure gauge is proof that 20w does not belong in these engines. A few on here (myself included) have tried to convince people that 30w is best for our trucks. Hopefully your post will open some eyes and save a few 5.4 3v engines from an early death!

Yea i suppose. I was upset with that 35 dollars wasted. Well 4 or so was for the filter, it stayed on lol. But i was not going to treat my brand new parts that way. I ran 5w 20 Schaeffers and it was thicker than that or had a better oily texture.
