Default 5 qts of 5w20 and 2qts of 5w30!

WHOOPS!!!!!!! accidentaly put in 5 qts of 5w20 and 2 qts of 5w30 !!! will i be ok or do i need to drain the oil and start over?? please help!!

whew, thanks yall. i checked the damn bottles to make sure i had the right weight. i guess pay closer attention next time.

I've got 7000 km on that same mixture and everything's fine right now.
I guess they don't pay parts store guys enough to keep the oil sorted on the shelf!

Originally Ford specified 5w-30 for these engines and then changed it to 5w-20 somewhere along the way. Probably has more to do with better corporate fuel averages then anything else. I would think if you were to put only 5w-30 in your engine it probably wouldn't hurt at all. But that's just my opinion.

I run 5-30 synthetic for 150k now not an issue

I'll bet it runs better...I ran 5-30 semi before no problems at all.

You are more than good and yes 5w20 was a mpg move for Ford to be in compliance with CAFE(Corporate Average Fuel Economy) regulation. 5w30 is used and speced in the 3v motors outside US.
