I run full synthetic on mine, 215k miles and counting. No issues.

I have the same experience, Mine has 155K on the clock and it is dry as can be everywhere. I don't think any oil is a fix for a mechanical or physical problem regardless of weight or type.

Do you pull with you're truck? Full synthetic was fine in my truck to until I pulled our 6k TT.

Like I posted above it still mystifying why mine seeps out of the valve cover. I switch back with no more leaking. Complete mystery

I pulled a 20' trailer with a 2006 Fusion loaded onto it from Virginia Beach up into the mountains of PA, then that same trailer with lawnmowers and other stuff on it back down to VB with no issues.

Yes. I tow regularly. Never had an issue. Perhaps climate plays a role? IDK but it is pretty sunny and hot here year round in southern california. I am thinking the heat cycling of seals getting frozen then hot and back again may contribute to it whereas here it is consistent in terms of temps.

I guess I can conclude my 5.4 doesn't like full synthetic...

I have only used 5W-20 Motocraft synthetic blend in my 2004. I have 95000 miles on it with no problems. Still has the original plugs. Not looking forward to changing them after hearing all the horror stories of them breaking off.

Get the removal tool and it won't be a problem if one does break.

Get the lysle tool it's not as bad as everyone says, much faster if you just break them off, and use the lysle tool to extract the electrode. 3-4 hrs
