I changed mine at 75 & 150K. Coils made it past 200K before one failed. At that point I changed all of them.

Guess which ones broke?
One broke the electrode in half. So that one sucked. Ended up tapping it several times to break up the porcelain, then blow it out with air to get chips out. Still couldn't get tap,in their. So prayed really hard and tapped the porcelain down even more. It went down almost 1/2 past the end of the spark plug end. Breaking the strap in the end. It didn't fall into chamber so I got a miracle. But that allowed me to get the tap back in their and thread it. Once I got some threads on it, it came out easy.
Going to get a inspection camera or borrow one to make sure nothing in chamber. Plus going to try the 1/4 hose duct taped to the vacuum to suck out the fragments if any.
Hey Bud. In a bit of a knot here and about to toss in the towel to the flatbed and the stealership. Started the spark plug project a few weeks back with what I thought were all the correct tools, including Lisle, OEM, air, vacuum, seafoam spray and tank, videos, beers, cursing, and whatever else I can think of. Right front plug electrode cap broke off in the head and for the life of me I can't get this thing out and you are the first person that I have come across in the 90some pages that has luck removing the worst of plugs. I have even modified the lisle tool with grooves to make it into an extractor then took a layer of threads off of it so that it could go deeper. Nothing. I should add, First two plugs came out with no issues whatsoever. So far, the extraction tools have proved worthless to me. Do you have any pictures or links of the tools that you used exactly that worked? I'm in a holding pattern second guessing 20 years of shade tree work deciding what to do next. Every video on youtube makes it look like it's the easiest thing in the world. Thanks.

How did your plug change go? I have SP515s in mine too. Had them changed at around 80k miles. Truck has 150k now. Changing them out myself later this week.
Update: I changed mine out today. What a PITA! Removing the computer and it's mount made it much easier to get to #8. Sprayed a little PB Blaster, cracked them and then a little Gunk Carb cleaner. Let them soak for around 20 minutes and they came out in one piece. #4 and #8 had the most buildup on them, but nothing too bad.

I have had to change the #4 plug twice since complete change. Seems water gets in that one and causes the plug to crack? The last time it came out pretty easily but the first time it sure had a lot of build up. Might be a good idea to keep those Lisle kits.

I've watched the YouTube videos of the impact gun being used on a hot motor that all seem to be very successful, with no broken plugs. Anyone here have different results using the same method?

I have heard of the head threads coming out with the plugs when going the hot motor impact gun route. I did find having a warm engine and spraying the PB blaster in the holes did seem to help get the spray to do it's job.

Just finished changing the spark plugs in my 04 screw at 117,000 miles. I took my time, followed the Ford maintenance instruction and used some of the advice in this thread, and all the plugs came out in one piece, squealing and crunching, and man those plugs were in tight. Hooyah! Really appreciate all the advice available on this sight. Without it this job could have easily gone sideways, so thank you all. This forum is a great resource.
