I'm a little unclear on the Lisle tool. Does it include the tap to get the shield out? If I interpret the directions correctly, you're supposed to tap the inside of the shield first, then screw in the threaded extractor into it and pull it out. I'm looking at the tool on Amazon, and it doesn't show a tap. Thanks guys.

yes, it includes the whole thing. the first mode of the tool is to push the ceramic and the second mode is to grab the shield and remove it.

here is a picture of the lisle tool and the spark plug socket (not included in the lisle tool)

Picaflor -
Thanks for the info. I guess you don't have to tap it. Looks like the extractor piece simply bites into the shield on it's own without tapping.

yes. one bites and pushes, and the other bite, grab and pick the shield.

It's funny how Ford claims it as a non-recall item but the dealerships are aware of the issue and basically taken advantage of it by charging us a harm and leg to remove them and if they break one, they charge more even though it's their certified mechanics with proper tools and training that basically are breaking them since some of you were able to remove them with no issue. Where are the lawyers, we should be suing Ford and their dealerships for taken advantage of us, they know of the issue but won't do nothing about it. Basically if the dealership break a spark plug then they should be charging Ford for the labor/tool cost and not us. Talk about BS

Tried the E3 on my CX7 and they basically suck, yes, I gained some performance but the gas mileage went down so fast that I removed them and I did reset the ECU after installing those plugs, perhaps it was just bad luck on my side. My CX7 didn't like performance upgrades, lol!

Talking Update

All plugs are done and replaced. The 2 that broke came out good with the lisle tool. After i replaced them all i ended up with an extremely bad miss so i was worried, however when the check engine light came on i was able to take it to autozone and their computer hook up was able to tell me that it was cylinder 8 that was missing. I replaced that new plug with another new plug and its running great now. I guess i either had a bad plug right off the back or i put too much anti-sieze on it and when i got hot it dripped sown and shorted out the plug.
All in all now that ive done it im not too worried to do it again probably in 50,000 miles

I know this question has been asked before but has anyone tryed "Blowing" out their broken plug???
IE. Unplugging the fuel injector, placing padding over the spark plug hole and turning the engine over. Like what they would do to remove glow plugs from a diesel with carbon build up on the end of the glow plug.
If its broken already whats it going to hurt??? If all you have left it there is the core and the shield (no threads of course!).
I just dont know if anyone has tryed this and was wondering if someone has tryed. The TSB is the way to go, dont get me wrong. I would be soaking the living hell out of these plugs before i tryed this.
But just a thought.
