Looks like we can add a new plug to the list of options. Haven't seen any reviews, but E3 has released the E3.70 for the 3 valves. Looks like they run around $10 a pop online.

Can't tell if they are one or two piece.

From the TSB:

CAUTION
DO NOT REMOVE PLUGS WHEN THE ENGINE
List. IS WARM OR HOT. THE ENGINE MUST BE AT
ROOM TEMPERATURE WHEN PERFORMING
ISSUE SPARK PLUG SERVICE. REMOVING THE SPARK
PLUGS FROM A WARM/HOT ENGINE
INCREASES THE CHANCE THE THREADS
COULD BE DAMAGED.

No, your 4.6 doesn't have the same issue as the 3V 5.4.

The TSB has been revised several times since it was first released. I believe that the earlier revisions did say to do it with the engine warm.

It works very well. Going by memory, it's a bit confusing at first but once you study it and read the docs if you have them it works great. When it breaks off, you put the steel dark colored one in first, you thread it in and then you use the push tool to 'push' in the broken plug. Careful, do not push it all the way down but enough to screw in the main thread tool. You then take it out and put the aluminum sleeve in and put in the main reverse thread 'main tool' and turn it in. You then use the big nut and it will come right out. If you have the instructions read them and take your time and study them. The tool saved me, 5 out of 8 broke. I hated the job but 'face your fear', say a prayer and use the tool correctly. Good luck and be positive. Forgive the not so good description but its late but I feel your pain. Btw, I had the exact socket size of each nut and bolt, made life easier.

Probably: the TSB effects the 4.6L 3-V before 11/30/07.

03 Expeditions should have the 2 valve motors, you just have to worry about the plugs shooting out of the motor.

The 4.6 didn't have sparkplug issues, so it doesn't matter.

04-08 4.6 Trucks are 2 valve

They came out with the 3 valve for the Mustangs before releasing it in the truck.
