If we could get the thread back on topic... I haven't heard back from anyone in-the-know about specifically which plugs to buy. Are any of those I listed here correct? I'd really like to order today.

Thanks.

Edit: Rock Auto has the Motorcrafts at a lower price than I previously reported ($6.91). Are these what most of you suggest?
MOTORCRAFT Part # SP507 {#PZT14F, PZT2F, PZT2FF4, SP421}
United States; Plug Material: Finewire Platinum; Gap: .045; Type - Standard Service Plg
Edit again: Here's another useful thread on this topic. And here. And here.

Seems that the SP507 is the ticket.

Spark plug (gas engines) PZT-2F
Spark plug (flex fuel engines) PZT-1F

Motorcraft's website for my non FF vin:

I went ahead and bought PZT-1F (SP462) because of this TSB ( http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/ad...920_5.4300.pdf )and a few threads I read (I realize the TSB isn't for my 06, just being overly cautious. )

HT15 (equivaltent to Motorcraft PZT14F=SP-507)

Thank you.

Here's a video by Champion that explains the problem well.

I just did my first 3 valve tune up at the independant shop I work for. 8 Out of 8 plugs broke and I had a little over 3 hours into it.I have the Matco tool kit which allows easy extraction of the broken ground shell after the porcelin is pushed in.I used Sea Foam Deep Creep and let it soak over night and followed the TSB's instructions as well. I believe that if they are going to break there going to break.I don't know how much soaking them overnight really helped.Obviously in my case (8 out of 8) it did'nt help at all. If anyone in Central Michigan needs this done, I would be happy to do it for them for Alot less than the dealer. It's not as bad as Everyone has made it out to be Especially if you have the right tools!!

i work for autozone. motorcraft IS a good product line. as far as plugs go, autolite makes motorcraft and ac delco plugs. autolites tend to be less expensive. personally im going w/ the champion 7989's. im gonna have my girl til she falls apart, so any way i can prevent plug breakage, im gonna do it.

change them and put plenty of antiseize on them and you will be fine. ford didnt put antiseize on the plugs when they were built

Don't put antiseize on the threads of the plugs, only put a little on the shield. It explains that in the TSB

Great thread! I have a couple questions. Truck started missing yesterday and diagnostics at the part store read cylinder 2 misfire. I changed the coil and that didn't do the trick so can I safely assume that the plug is fouled and that it's not the coil lead or something else? If that is the case, can I assume that 14mm is the proper size socket to use since it is slightly smaller than a 9/16?

glad i found this thread before i tried to tackle this. i may just change mine at 50K just to be sure i wont have any issues.

as for the above post everything ive seen says 9/16 for the plug size. amazon had a one piece 9/16 deep socket with extension built in, specfically for the plug removal
