It is definitely good peace of mind to do this every once in a while. I plan on sending in a 2nd one to see how it trends. If anything is going wrong internally, this can pick it up before things possibly get really expensive.

I use them to see if an oil is suitable for longer drain intervals. If this is what you're looking for, get them to test TBN as well

OP, I noticed the lab mentioned you had good filter performance. Are you using the Motorcraft FL820?

Yes, I am. They seem to be good filters. I've had no issues with them.
