I think I've got a wheel bearing going bad on mine. When I do left turns at speed it will sometimes make noise from the right front, and when coming to a stop the truck will sometimes shudder...

Sounds like spark plugs in my mind. When was the last time yours were replaced? Are you noticing it buck around 40-45 mph?

I this is more of an engine problem since all common conditions are low rpms sputter, shutter, and knocking sounds (hopefully not a cylinder).

I'm not sure when or of they have been replaced as I bought it use. I'm going to assume they haven't been replaced. The noises I mention coincide with engine hesitation until I back off the throttle. Upon letting off the throttle it seems to shutter as well. As for bucking, yes I've noticed that recently at city speeds.

Thoughts?

As best as I can describe it, it's a clacking sound at low RPMs when the engine feels like it's about to die. Almost sounds like a diesel but low on power

Have had a similar sound for the last year or so. Only occurs in sharper right hand corners. Inspected everything in the front end and ruled it all out. Also have noticed an increase in rattling type noises from the engine. I am starting to wonder if I don't have the failing tensioners and a bunch of slack in the timing chain that scrapes against the timing chain cover in a corner...

Plugs are fin, and the misfires have been taken care of by replacing a few coils...

Body is starting to rust out pretty bad, so I'm in drive it till it dies mode at 181,000 miles. Not likely to spend the money on a full timing chain/tensioners/phasers replacement at this point...

Sounds like you've got fouled up plugs (they can cause intermittent misfires, very common with the 5.4) the rattling could be timing chains, guides, tensioners, and phasers. But id look at/replace the plugs before going down that route. At 113,000 miles you're due for a plug change and that's typically really early for timing issues. But every engine is different

Might be a long shot but have you checked your power steering pump. Try turning your wheels side to side when stopped does the engine bog down then .

It ended up being the Cam Phasers. They threw a cam position code. At minimum they needed replacing. At worst, the engine was shot. I made the call to ditch the truck. Got myself a 2012 FX4 EcoBEAST. I hate the larger payments but it was the best decision I could have made in the situation. I was looking at anywhere from 3k-8k to fix the engine issue.

I got the same thing, most noticeable when backing up and turning right. 8 new plugs at 112,000. I'm planning on replacing coils and fuel pump sensor module just because they frequently fail at 120,000 miles and you can be a long ways from anything in this state.

mine gets better if I rev it up, making me think marginal electronics, not mechanical.

can't pull codes - 6 10 hour days a week + 1 hour commute and half of Sunday doing laundry - later for codes.
