Default 5.4 Triton power?

I have a 2005 150 Crew 4x4 Lariat with the 5.4 . Question is I now have 21,000 miles on it and I am not impressed with the power at 14 to 15 mpg. My wife has a Tahoe at 17 mpg with the 5.3 it that has alot more pep than my 150 can anyone explain or have a idea ? comments ,questions or suggestions
