Looks like the ground strap broke off in the cylinder, make sure you blow out the cylinder well to get it out.

The Lisle tool works fine. I have never broken a spark plug off in an engine in my 66 years until this one. I broke 5 . The tool saved the day. I mailed it on for free to someone here once I finished with it expecting I would never need it again. A very close inspection of the ground electrode will show if it broke off on both ends and dropped into the cylinder or if it wa simply worn away. Either is possible. One of those long reach, small magnets might snag the part out of the cylinder. Bummer if it broke off....hopefully it makes a quick exit through the exhaust valve.

Ford should be ashamed. They should also be taking care of every bit of this beyond the cost of a normal change of 8 plugs. I recently pulled one of my replacement plugs. 30,000 miles on it, every bit as dirty as the originals and the 0.045' gap had already worn to 0.075" gap. The original plugs at 118,000 miles had a 0.095" gap. So, it appears these plugs need changing pretty often and at least loosening and reapplying the anti-sieze compound. M1911

Congrats! Feels good when you pull out the extractor and the piece comes out.

Tape a bit of garden hose on a shop vac to try and get the piece of metal out. It fits perfectly down the plug well.
