5.4 replacement engine suggestions

5.4 replacement engine suggestions
Well my motors gone. Bought new 07. After 134k miles (front motor cam phaser job at 125k miles) Strict maintenance always done with ford synthetic. Had the engine pulled and gone thru, crank, #4 rod, oil pump, cams, and heads all spent.
Just need some suggestion on a rebuilt replacement. Not looking for HI-PO options. Not looking for the $6000 Jasper engine either. If anyone has replaced theirs, who they used and what they paid. Looking for UNDER $3000. Used would be an option but most of the used engines I've seen they want almost as much as a reman'ed one.

Where are you located? Local guy here in WI has a 5.4 with 110,000 miles for $1000. I am thinking about buying it and keeping it for someday, but not sure. Better to go to someone who could use it soon.

I am in the same boat with my wifes 04.
It is the "5" engine code. Hard to find in my area.
Ford wants 4300 for a new engine from them
Jasper wants 4800 in my area
local machine shop wants 3000 to rebuild the one I have.
If I can find another engine what should I replace to keep it from grenading in a few thousand miles?
Thanks for any help

I'm in OHIO, the only thing with buying a used one is I'm afraid of going thru the same thing later on down the road. If I could find one around here or within a few hundred miles for that price I might consider it. I've got the Flex fuel V code engine. I plan on keeping the truck so throwing a used engine in and "dumping" it isn't really an option. I've owned a lot of fords( 3 mustangs 2 explorers 4 f150s) and after I fix this one this will be the last. I hope ford is reading these problem threads on this 5.4.

I have bought two engines from these guys, and they are amazing to deal with. Last time I bought it was free shipping if you get it to a local shop or something, and if you call and ask to speak to the CEO (I believe his name was Eddie), they transfer you and he answers the phone. I really can't complain at all about my experiences with them.

Dealer just quoted me over $8k to replace the long block. Couldnt tell me if it was reman or new. I assume reman. I have a #5 misfire, reported low compression. 112K on an 05FX4. I have to believe any leakage is the valve train and not the rings or I would have low compression misfires on other cyls as well. Powertrain products might be in my future as well.

check these guys out
This outfit is located in Baldwin, WI and ship. 3 year warranty on OEM reman engines and transmissions.
I've gone to them for an engine and tranny with no issues. Friend who owns a repair shop has used them for years and swears by them. They do make good on warranty.
