Hey guys i got a 2004 fx-4 with the 5.4 motor im at about 115,000 miles on it and i have that stupid cam phaser i believe that went bad.. anyways i need to go get oil debating if i should try using a tad bit heavier oil or just stick with the 5w-30 i believe i says or its 5w-20 anyways any good input would be greatly appriciated.

Stick with motorcraft oil and filter (5w-20) I have always used 10w-30 in everything I have owned but from all the reading I have done on the forums the motors really do like the motorcraft stuff the best. Just not worth the risk.

replace one quart of the oil with Marvel mystery oil. It coats the mettallic surfaces abd reduces the frition. I put it in my 07 every third oil change and have never had a knock
