I don't think there is an EGR on the 04-and above 5.4L engines. The 3V, VCT eliminates the need.

that maybe be true. he didn't state what year it was so i wasn't sure. i know my 2000 5.4 2v has one and has had problems in the past with rough ideal because it was clogged.

When the coils were replaced, where new boots installed with dielectric grease?
And if so, too much grease can cause some issues..

An over tightened spark plug can also cause this... I have had cars with plugs so tight they break the porcelain

Well...this post is in the 2004-2008 part of the forum. I know some folks will post topics in the wrong place sometimes, but if you post in here, I am going to assume you have a 2004-2008 F150....and if you say you have a 5.4L, I am going to assume it is a 3V, VCT engine (no EGR).

Just for clarification sake, do you have a mis or a misfire? Are you getting a momentary stumble or can you actually hear the pop pop?

If your getting a lot of popping and occasional random misfire codes I'd look at timing or cats. If the popping is not happening at idle and mostly under heavy acceleration I'm thinking bad cat or cats may be more likely.
