I have a stock 04 F150 SCrew with the dreaded "dieseling" noise from the cam phasers. I'm planning on buying the full cam phaser lockout kit. Just wondering if anyone else has installed these and if they resolved the noise. I would hate to spend the time installing these if they wont make a difference.
I read up on the cam phaser issue before buying my '07 but don't know a lot about them. Notice the last sentence..... If the phaser is already bad, installing the limiters won't fix the noise, so a full lockout may be your only choice.
Otto has the best link to the VCT operation. I do not believe you can buy a kit to fully lock the phasers. I have read somewhere that a guy welded his phasers so they were locked all the time. Seems silly to me as you will lose all the fuel, emissions, and power efficiencies they offer. VCT is a great concept just not executed the best by ford.
