Ford has its spark plug change set for 100k miles, which is exactly when I did it. They broke 7 out of 8 of them, and my truck is immaculate. On top of that, trannies that go out for cheap parts, and the leaky passenger exhaust manifold, this lawsuit is completely justified. Ford dropped the ball, and they need to own up to it.

They have since revised that to 70k a few years back.

Its a known problem, I change mine at 30K to definately avoid any issues, having plugs in there longer will only cause a problem, its not expensive to change them yourself and it also gives you a chance to check the coil pack springs and boots, securing screws etc.

I called the dealer to book my truck in for sparkplug replacement,I have 89,000 kilometers(55,000 miles) and he said to me thats to early.
I asked him who is going to pay to remove the plugs when they fuse themselves to the head, his reply "fair enough"

I'm old school,I dont care how far plugs have come along 100,000kms(62,000 miles) and there out!

BTW.dealer quoted me $89 labour and $4.50 per plug, but I have the 4.6 in mine.

If I felt that strongly about it, I would never buy another one...You did exactly what Ford wanted you to do.......
I drove GM since 1991. I never changed plugs at 52 thousand on GM products. I got a 100 k. The reason I bought a 09 Ford I was sick of GM 5.3 being a whimp of a tow engine. Oh this Ford will Tow, I have 5.4, 3.73 with 11,300 GVW. I love the way it tows. But why so much carbon on the plugs, we are running lead free fuel. Is it the enthanol. But NO body said any thing bout 600 bucks to change plugs, this is crazy, people can't afford that. So i promise u, I am american 100 percent, but Ford can kiss MY foot. I will never ever drive another product from them. They are raping the american public and the goverement don't give a damn.

Seems like every shop is different. I hear people only paid $200 and some $700 or more.

The plugs are just a way for the dealers to stick it to the vehicle owners and make a couple hundred extra bucks. There is no reason dealers should be quoting people $400 to change plugs without a break.

I did mine for free. Do it yourself, buy the extractor tool used on this forum or eBay and do it yourself. It's not hard at all! Took me 2 hours. Just remember to use pb blast 30 mins before doing it. Also do it on a warm motor. USE ANTI SEIZE!
