Default 5.4 3v xlt whistle

so i havent touched my truck since i bought it, but it has been acting up a bit.
a couple cold mornings it would whistle when i fired it up and drove it with out letting it warm up. the whistle tone was direclty corelated to rpm. and would last for at least 10-20 min coming and going.
recently the problem has become more frequent. i took a 4 hour round trip yesterday and was annoyed but able to pinpoint the noise a little.
it whistles from 55-65 mph only when the rpms are between 1750 and 2000. essentially in 4th gear only and only about 80% of the time.
at 1800rpm at 30 mph it purrs like a kitten. if its underload like going up a hill at 65 at 3000 rpm it is quiet. at its loudest the pitch can be changed with an rpm change so im thinking intake ish but im not sure, anyone have a clue?

Could just be the gasket around the air filter drawer. pull out the air filter and look at the front around the inner part of the face of the drawer, it that makes any sense the way I described it.

Mine was doing something similar in the first snow of the season, not nearly as long. But I was reading it was the intake or something of that sort. I think it's a common thing in the cold for the 5.4s

ive read similar things, but its not really cold right now, it was 18 degrees, on the ride. i coulndt imagine how bad it would do it at -20. ill have to look into the drawer issue, if its that what was your fix?

My first one I think it was like either 23 or 13 degrees out. But it hasn't done it in a while

Is it a whine at all or is it very whistley? If it sounds like the truck in this video, it is probably an idler pulley. If it's a whistle, I would guess it's somewhere along the air intake. Let us know if you figure it out!

Could also maybe be the bearings in the alternator. I had an issue with mine whistling in colder temps, replaced the alternator and all was good.

If it is the gasket around the drawer of your air filter, go to home depot and get some weather stripping, I think 1/2 wide is good and put it on. Cost was about $2.50 and 5 minutes of time. Worked great on mine, no more noise.
