Default 5.4 3v gas

Ok so I just had my spark plugs changed and I have always run regular grade gas through my truck and the guy at the shop said I should use a higher grade and my spark plugs will come out easier next time is this true

I don't know if there is any truth to that or not..but the plugs should be changed every 50-60K miles..sometimes sooner if you're having problems

Ok the only thing I now about gas is regular grade mid grade and supreme grade what should I run also I replaced the spark plugs with the original motor craft plugs and my truck has 92k and just replaced them yesterday it had just started having problems and a lot of them broke but idk if the gas I ran was part of the problem I know it is a engine problem with the 3v fords made before 2008 but now I know all this should I run a higher gas than regular and if so what kind

Regular 87 unless you are tuned for higher. Thats an old wives tale...or should I say mechanics tale to run higher octane to clean out a motor or make it run better. Some even think their motors are faster and last longer. It's all in the mind. The higher the octane the more resistant it is to pre-ignition due to heat and combustion chamber pressures. Here is a great read on it. Particulaly half way down titled "effects of octane rating" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating

Very good question. Over time this can cause excessive carbon build up. (keep in mind carbon build up around our plugs is what makes them stick to the head). See pic below. Anyway if you don't have the ignition timing, additional air, or compression to result in the proper ignition and complete burn of higher octane than over time you will build up more deposits. Higher octane is not better, cleaner, or any of that other nonsense. Fuels of all octanes and types are designed for certain applications. Hope this helps.
