Did you block off the vacuum to the side opposite to the one you jacked up ? you need to figure out which side is leaking. by blocking off one side at a time and trying to spin the other you can prove out the system. You should also make sure you have vacuum to the lines at the iwe to rule out a broken or cracked line. I have ever seen it but anything is possible. If this doesnt work than they are prob both leaking and should be vacuum tested with a vacuum pump, you can **** rent one at a parts store for short money.

Is there a way to completely disable the 4WD system and prevent the iwe actuator from grinding my hub? Just bad timing for me right now cashflow wise....cant afford a hub and actuator at this moment....not till i get called back to go to work!

You can disconnect the vac lines but your shafts will spin all the time. Its set up as kind of a fail safe so worst case failure you have 4x4 and not no 4x4 like the old ones.

You can do just the actuator for now if you need, it the hub teeth are ground you will just lose the ability to shift on the fly smoothly. It will still engage and work.

It's not constant 4x4 on the pavement if you unhook the vacuum to the IWE. It just engages the IWE's at the wheels, which in turn makes your shafts and front ring and pinion spin. You are still disengaged from 4x4 at the transfer case.

One of my IWE's started to grind. I disconnected the vacuum and thought about trouble shooting it. Then I needed all new suspension up front so I put it off. Tinkered around with the IWE's and vacuum lines at the same time as the suspension replacement. Put everything back together and both IWE's started grinding. Said eff it and have had the vacuum disconnected for about a year now. 4x4 still engages just fine at the transfer case with the shift on the fly as it's designed.

by unhooking the vacuum at the iwe do you mean disconnecting the iwe solenoid or unhooking the two hoses to the iwe solenoid?

I mean unhooking the vacuum line from the intake (or wherever it originates) to the solenoid, sorry, I shoulda been more specific. Realistically, you can do it in any form, so long as the IWE's no longer see vacuum. I just did it under the hood to keep any gunk out of the lines to the IWE's so they stay clean for when I finally get around to fixing it.

Just make sure you cap what lines you seperate.
