Default 4x4 slowing truck

I recently noticed that my 4 hi will make like a whining noise at about 50 and it takes about 2000 rpm to take off from a dead stop and will stop the truck going around tight turns in a parking lot. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

You have no reason to use 4hi if the traction is that good its for poor traction situations only and shouldn't be engaged on pavement

50 is the max speed recommended for 4x4... If your not driving on a loose, mushy, snowy, or grassy surface, the 4wd will bind. Try your testing on the grass or dirt at least.

I agree with this except for the 50 MPH max speed. The 4x4 system is not speed limited and can be used at any speed at which you feel comfortable traveling in conditions needing 4x4. The only thing in the owners manual that references 4x4 and speed is at which speeds you can ENGAGE 4x4, not operate in 4x4 and 50 MPH is there suggested speed to stay under while you engage 4x4. After 4x4 has been engaged you can go as fast as you dare.

50 MPH is not the max recommended speed for 4X4, if that was the case my transfer case and front driveline would be grenaded all over the highway. 50 MPH is the max recommended speed to ENGAGE 4X4.

That having been said, driving in a dry parking lot in 4X4 is no bueno. You will absolutely trash the 4X4 system by doing that too often.

I stand corrected. I knew you could go over 50 mph, I just thought it was not recommended..
