Question 4x4 shifter (manual one in the floor)

hey guys my 05 stx has the 4x4 shifter in the floor and i noticed the other day that it has alot of "play" in it, when im in 2HI i can move it side to side very easily, i dont think it is hurtin anything, i just was wonderin if it was common in the late model f150's, my 95 had a shifter in the floor for 4x4 and it had very little to any play in it, thanks for the replies

When you hit bumps/turn sharp does it move? If so, I'd say that's too much...unless they "break in" maybe...

Mine is really firm in my 08 but it has only been used four or five times so far

My 2008 does the same thing. I notice mine around 3500 miles, checked everything underneath the floorboards and everything was ok. It has not gotten worse either.

as long as its staying in gear i wouldnt worry about it. i have the one in the floor on my 93 and it has play to it but it stays in gear untill i force (and i mean force) it out.
