4x4 front drivers side grinding
Hey guys, over the last few months I've noticed on my 04 f150 fx4 that when I'm in 4 by and only when I'm in 4 by that everything functions as it should and when it's under load like pushing through powder snow or slipping through mud there is a constant horrendous grinding / clunking noise coming from the front drivers side. I haven't been able to crawl under and inspect but I'm planning to this long weekend but I don't know where to start. It has definitely gotten worse although it still works even when making the noise. Thank you all in advanced!
Ps: I've done some research although every forum I've come up on the posters issue isn't very similar to my situation so if I'm wrong even pointing me to a previous post would be much appreciated!

I hope I found the problem your talking about because mine does it in 2 wheel and going up curbs, but yesterday I jacked up the front end and found that my drivers side tire had play in and out so I ordered a new hub bearing assembly and I really hope due to the amount of okay I felt that the problem is all the loose bearings going out and just a lot of trim inside the hub to make that clunk sound.
