Default 4wd vacuum line connection dry rot.

The conection for the 4wd vaccum line in the passenger side wheel well has dry rotted. I hear what's sounds like a vacuum leak but can't tell where it is coming from nor have I really investigated this piece to see if it was it. I feel like there shouldn't be vacuum to this line without the 4wd engaged anyway. Thoughts? If it is leaking is it as simple as sleeving it with a piece of hose?

The hubs are pulled out of engagement with vacuum.

Ah, so it could most definitely be the culprit. Any suggestions on replacing this piece?

I bought the entire vacuum line assembly from the solenoid to both hubs, believe it was $50. I did this because of the age of the lines and that eventually more areas would break.

To your specific question, you can repair just that line by cutting out the bad piece, and replacing with a piece of hose. local auto parts places should have the parts you need.

The lines are all nylon except for the last 12" (which are rubber) or so that actually connects to the hub. Also the connection elbow's and in-line fittings are rubber as well.

Will go with the later for now which I figured could be done and much cheaper.
Where did you buy your lines and do you have a part number?

The vaccuum lines on these trucks SUCK. I have replaced the main hose twice as well as the 4x4 hose. Once they get cold they better not move, or they just fall apart.

This was not a vac line I realized that it is the abs wires when I was doing ball joints.
