Don't know why you would even want to come close to the max 4x4 speeds anyways...it's meant for added traction so you shouldnt be doing 60 in hazardous conditions anyways.
The road conditions in upstate NY change quickly, they can go from bare pavement to 6+ inches of snow and back to bare pavement within a mile, no exaggeration, it all depends on the winds and drifts. It's not an everyday thing, just here and there. I try to avoid it, but it can't be worse than engaging and disengaging a dozen times in a 15 mile trip.

Ok, so back to your original problem... it sounds like a transfer case motor or hub actuator problem if your dash lights are lighting up. "Electronically" everything is fine, but "mechanically" something is broken. Good luck.

Thank you, that's what I am thinking and I will post any solution as soon as I find one.

I haven't had the weather to get out and trouble shoot yet but some crappy thought went through my head, hit 4WD and turn the tightest circle possible.... the front end should have hopped, two circles and no hopping. Open front differential or not, this isn't right.
