Default NO!!!!!! It's the vacuum salonoid

My '06 just did the same thing!! The bulb is not out. It starts with the light not working and then it will start locking in your front hubs while driving......... BY ITSELF! Even in 2WD it tried to lock in the front hubs on the interstate running 65MPH...not good. I fixed this problem today and that is why I'm on here to tell someone about it. It is the vacuum salonoid, very easy and cheap fix. It's on the passenger's side of the fire wall. No bolts, it is clipped on and easily removed. There is one electrical wire and two air lines going to it. Any shop will charge you one hour of labor to change it, but it took me about 6 min!! Got the part from Ford dealership for $40.00 Now 4WH light is working and no more unwanted locking hubs! Hope this helps.

Holy Jumpins!! I know for 100% fact the the 4HI is working now, you guys should see the snow storm we are getting socked with right now! I just got back home.

90km high winds, 50 CM of snow, -9 celcius ( sorry for Candian metric system).

A few friends couldn't budge there vehicles from their driveways, or get them off there streets due to the Plows not being around yet. So I fired up the truck, put her in 4HI, picked them all up and drove them all to work ( work at Banks. Need Lava going down the street for those to close)

Other then the blinding snow and wind making it very hard to see, nothing was stopping this truck!!

I have to add (because some posters say they're bad) That I'm riding the Firestone Destination's A/T 18's. They aren't winter tires, and she went through about 12 inches of snow no swet!! One spot on an open road where the snow drifted across was almost 3 feet . I love these tires.

So yes, the 4 HI is DEFFINITLY working !

That is good but still be cautious because the 4wh will work with that salonoid being bad, But your hubs will try to lock while driving in 2wd even at higher speeds which makes a horrible grinding sound. The light is not working because the switch inside the salonoid is not opening or closing fully. Good luck with everything, and again this is a very simple fix, all I have ever done is change my oil and this task was MUCH more simple than that.

Haha, nice. I love snow storms in 4WD I wait for the storms to come in before I drive up to the snow so it's more fun. Haha

Glad it's working...maybe get that solenoid check out? I dunno. Have fun in the snow!
