We've had a ton of 4.6 2v's in our family. My father's made it to 370,000 before rust made him sell the truck. An old woods truck I had (98 4.6) had 470,000 or so with no problems but (you guessed it) rust.

These engines, when looked after and maintained will outlive the length of the truck. I cannot speak for the 3v but I always understood they were not far off in terms of durability. Maybe someone else can vouch for them but here's my most recent 4.6 with 300,000+ on it.

They're great motors if you aren't hauling anything.

I can vouch for the 4.6 they're the motor in every Crown Vic p71 police car I've ever driven. It was a sad day when Ford killed the CV with proper care the 4.6 outlast the vehicle it sits in. My department keeps cars for a long time in some cases 200k miles, which is a lot for a police car (we beat the hell out of them). Currently I work as a plain cloths detective and drive an '05 f150 with a 4.6 I look forward to having this truck for another 3 years or so.

I have an 05 f150 with the 4.6. Bought the truck with 68,000 km and now sitting at 195,000 km. In that time I've had no issues with the motor whatsoever, love the motor

You're 06 is the 2 valve engine. They didn't use 3 valve 4.6 liter engines in f150 until 2009.

Great thanks for the info! Very happy with the truck! Had it since 80k and it just hit 110k and still runs perfect! I did the plugs at 100k and change the oil every 5k with motorcraft 5w20. What else should I do keep thus engine running for as long as I can?
