Default Hearing a whining sound!

When I accelerate I hear a whining sound coming from the engine. I know it could be the power steering fluid is low, but thats not the case. Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Alternator whine is more reassuring than a tranny failure.

Mine has picked up that whirling mechanical whining sound under the hood the other day. Fluids all look good, air intake looks good, new air filter, so this new sound is sending waves of paranoia through me.

Loosen and remove the belt and run it some to see ifthe noise changes or is gone. Check the idler and other pulleys for rough brg ect. If your trans pump is the noise there should be a leak also from the torque convertor seal. Try a trans repair in the bottle if you are sure of its noise. It can't hurt anything.
