4.2L Running Rich
Hey f150 forum,
I am new to the site, I recently purchased a 2005 4.2L STX with 77,xxx miles, auto trans, 2wd, regular cab.
The truck seems to run good however I am not getting the fuel mileage I expected, around 15 mpg while running 50% hwy, and in just 1 tank of gas a black ring of soot has formed on the exhaust tip. seems like a sign of the engine running too rich? or is this normal?
I have a diagnostics tool and the truck is not throwing any temporary or permanent codes.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem, or have any insight into the situation.
