Default 3v oil?

What kind of oil do you use in your 3valve 5.4? Winters approaching and I'm do for a change. Couldn't find a thread so I did this one

Any particular kind? Do you have the cam phaser issue/noise?

5W30 has helped a little with the ticking, which is more common with 5.4L V8s than you think apparently...lol.

OK...I had one of em go already and it sounds/feels like the other ones about to go :/

You may be way more knowledgeable about engines than me...lol. As long as I hear a tick, and not rattle, then the truck is good...lol

Motorcraft 5w20 and a motorcraft 820s filter. The filters are better for it due to their design with the anti drain back valve. Helps prevent dry starts. Also I've got about 64k no noise.

Let the oil-war begin......There is another thread from not long ago with about 50000000000 replies to it.

I say just pick a good oil, for certain a good filter, and as long as it works.......roll with it!

As for the question at hand: Ford oil and filter on mine, 99k and idles quietly!(knocking on wood now.....)
