3v 5.4 triton opinions ?

Well... did you buy a pickup truck expecting a Mustang? Of course it's slow. Not too many people buy trucks for speed.
The Triton has its issues, definitely, but I love it. After replacing all the "common problem" parts (i.e. the cam phasers) these things seem to be pretty damn tough. If you want more power / speed, try upgrading your truck - new headers, cold air intake, new throttle body, throttle body spacer, new exhaust, and a custom tune AFTER all that is put on.

My Edge Evolution made my truck feel much less like a slug. Before it was shifting much too soon and had no power from a stop, like a toll booth.
Now its much better and I used one of the 'canned' tunes, level 2 and later had to adjust for bigger tires.
Changing the gears would have an effect on the feel of power too. My friends Tundra has 4.33's and it will set me back in the seat when he punches it but mine wont do that with its 3.55's.
