3" straight pipe
Hey guys! I'm new here and was curious about straight piping my 08. Will it drone in the cab and will I hurt anything?

Straight piping a gas truck isnt a good idea. You will loose lots of torque and it will drone like a ****. A good way to get the straight pipe sound and keep some low end torque is 3" piping into a 3" si/so dynomax bullet with 3" tailpipes. It will be loud, have less drone than straight piped, and more torque than a straight pipe.

My truck is straight piped and its great. I'm only using 2.5 though and I don't have any loss of torque of power and drone is just as loud as the magnaflow setup I had before and is actually much quieter on cruising speed and a monster under heavy throttle. I love it

Go 2.5 in single pipe or 2.25in duals if your going the straight pipe, that'll keep the exhaust FLOW happy. I say flow because it has nothing to do with backpressure, and he'll actually gain some performance if done right, theres absolutely nothing wrong with straight piping a gas truck....also a dynomax bullet will do nothing for torque as it's a straight thru style resonator and it only mildly muffles the sound. If you want straights go for it!

3" is too big for a normally aspirated truck like most of ours. 2 1/2 is good. Put a straight through muffler on. Magnaflow is a good choice as it is a straight thru muffler. The 'flo's are not straight thru, although many like them for the sound and price.
You will notice a low rpm power loss (torque) with the 3" pipe. I don't know about WOT, but there might be a small gain there. Unless you have a blower IMO you don't need 3".

3" exhaust is way to big for these underpowered trucks. Without the gas flow from a big cube engine or high hp engine the exhaust velocity will slow and cause back pressure. My old 04 mustang had 700rwhp and I still didn't need 3" exhaust but my 89 with a 417ci engine and 400 shot of nitrous needed 3".
