I bought the one the dealership parts manager had been driving...it had 3K miles on it and they knocked off 4 grand...

Yea all the ones i found were way to high miles for the prices they wanted and i dont make enough to buy new but then i found this one and ive loved it so it was worth it.

So back to the OP's question... Now that we have it figured out that the severe angle from the 3" level was most likely causing the rub, you should be good with a 2.5" level and 35s. No need to worry. Tons of people are running that set up (TechRep included) that aren't hitting anything.
