Question 295's rub on 2.5 level on OEM 20s??

Hey guys, I am about to take the dive on a 2.5 level and new tires for my 08 screw 4x4. I have done a lot of searching and gotten some conflicting information as to what tire sizes will actually contact the control arm and which don't. I have no problem trimming, but do not feel comfortable with tires that will rub any hardware. I don't currently have the money to get new wheels, so I will be sticking with the OEM 20's. I know a lot of people are recommending the 285/65r20 for this setup (and I think these look good), but I love a wider stance and have seen some guys running 295/65r20 and others with 295/60r20s on stock 20s with levels as well.

My question to you folks is will a 295/65r20 or a 295/60r20 rub the control arms or any other hardware on stock 20s with a 2.5 level on an 08 4x4.

Thanks so so much in advance for your help and input....PICS or other advice would be much appreciated

neither size will not contact your UCA on stock +44 wheels. which is stock off set. they will rub front and rear plastic parts. the 65 is taller than the 60..i would run the 296/60/20 and you may not even have to trim plastic...

Thanks Tech rep. Just to be clear, you're saying both sizes will rub the UCA on the stock 20s? If that's the case then I guess I will just avoid the 295 width. I can't imagine a tire constantly rubbing up against a metal component can be good for the truck, or the tire. Anyone running these sizes care to comment?

that's not what I said... I said neither the 295/60 or the 295/65 will contact the UCA on your stock wheel... they are the same width.. and I'm running 295/65/20 ....and they don't even come close to my UCA...

Techrep,
Sorry for the confusion, you initially said "neither size will not contact your UCA" that double negative made me think you meant it would contact the UCA. Makes a lot more sense now haha. Thanks so much for your help. So did you run the 295/60s on your stockers at all? I see that you are running aftermarket wheels now and I know sometimes that changes things. Thanks again for all the help.

Sorry...my bad

stockers I ran 305/55/20 BFG M/T KM2's they were 12.4 wide...no rub what so ever... now I have 295/65/20 Nitto Trails which measure 12" wide on after market wheels which have the same off set as stock wheels +44

I run 295/55/20 with oem wheels and have a 3" level kit and i still had to put 1/4" wheel spacers on cause those rubbed without them. As long as you can get 6 full turns of the lugs nut on the lug studs by hand your in the safe were it will not affect anything and i got 7 1/2 turns by hand before i used the impact.

Its things like this that make me nervous. Does it being a 4x2 make a huge difference? I just want to know one person out there that ran them on stock 20s and had no problems.

Huge difference between a 4x4 and 2wd. You'll fit it on a 4x4 with no issues.
