295/70R17 on leveled 4x2
I'm sure I'm beating a well dead horse here by asking this but, I want to be sure before ordering parts. I have a 2005 STX 4x2 that I plan on fixing up. I'm going to be replacing the stock shocks/struts/bushings/exc and adding a 2.5 leveling kit. With this set up, would I be able to run 295/70R17's or would it be wiser to go with a 285? I will be using the stock wheels and Nitto Grappler G2's (knobby sidewall) if this matters in the equation.

Welcome to the forum! Right now I have 285/70 17's on my 2005 2wd with a 2" level. This week, I am doing all of the stuff you mentioned, including bumping up to a 2.5 level. 285 70's fit just fine, no rub at all. I've seen some guys on here and other forums that run 295's on their 2wds and also seem to have no issues. For that reason, I am also thinking of bumping up to 295's.
Sorry I can't provide any concrete "it works for sure" proof, but hopefully some of the guys that have done it will chime in! Another size you could check out is the 285/75/17. It is an uncommon size that measures 33.8. I personally think it had too much sidewall and looks bloaty, but check it out if you're still researching!
