Default 295/70/17 vs 315/70/17 tires on 2WD with 2.5" level?

I drive a 05' XLT 4.6l with 2.5" front level.

I've been wanting to get larger tires for a while now but I can't decide what size. I want the biggest I can get to fit on my stock 17" wheels. I was set on the 35x12.5 but I read that wasnt a good idea unless I got a 3" body lift but I'm about ready to do that.

I've read that the 315 will fit on the stock 17 wheels and that it may need some trimming because of it's 2wd but it can be doable. Like this gentleman here did and reported no rubbing http://www.f150online.com/forums/whe...ml#post2594200

But I've also heard people advise against it because it pinches the tire, reduces life, rubbing, blah blah. I really want to get the 34" 315/70/17 tires if possible. If I do some trimming will it be fine?

Ahh thanks. I like that more than the 295. But could I fit the 315/70/17 on my truck? I'd like to use spacers (1.5-2") and I have a 2.5" level already.

If you're putting them on a stock wheel I wouldn't go wider than a 295.
