Default 285/75 vs. 275/70

So I've narrowed it down to 2 tires....Nitto Terra Grapplers 275/70/18 and the Toyo Open Country A/T 285/75/18. The Nitto's are about 1" taller (33.15) than the stock 275/65/18 and the Toyo's are almost 2" taller (34.83)and about 1/2" wider (11.22). These are going on stock FX4 rims (7.5 wide). Any suggestions? p.s. I have a 2 1/2 AS leveling kit that I just need to find time to put on.

Either one of those tires will fit on those rims well. And they'll both look great on the truck. I believe there is a significant price increase though once you go up to the 285's. I have 285's and like them alot.
If you have the 5.4 with at least 3.55 gears, you should be OK with either one power-wise, although, 3.73's would be better yet for the bigger ones.

It's really just your preference.

I still need to price the 285's out...I talked to a few places today and was able to get $1000 out the door for the Terra Grapplers mounted, balanced and lifetime alignment.

My buddy put 33's on his truck and then he always wished he had gone with 35's. Will they clear with that size leveling kit?

^Yes, they will fit.

I'd get the Nitto's in a bigger size but if not I'd go with the Toyo's because you will enjoy the larger tire, trust me.

I don't know if you are looking for a taller tire or a wider tire but I have terra grappler 285/60/18's and I think they look good on the stock wheel. Don't know if that helps but just letting you know the 285 will fit no problem.

I have the nitto's in a bigger size and I love them. But if your going for bigger tires, dont skimp on them and then wish you got bigger later...That was my mistake.

Ya I am looking for a taller tire...I had a guy put the Nitto next to my truck today to see how it will look and it looks better than stock but it is only an inch taller and no wider. Still need to price out the Toyo's. Originally I thought I wanted 33's but now I am not sure, the Toyo is almost 35" tall. I just don't want any rubbing.

Stock rims, you won't rub.
