Default 2008's

I am in the market for a new Ford. Recently my 05' 150 Lariat with edge tune, thrush exhaust, AEM intake, Toyo Open Country Tires, add a leaf rear suspension, all the fixes on the motor, just got totaled. I liked the ride in my 05 quite a bit. Don't really want to to do as much wrenching though. I found a couple 2008 lariat's with the V8 close by. If anyone has one i would love to hear honest up front issues anyone has had with them. Appreciate any info or links. Thanks -Ford Brothers of Fairbanks

Only been a year owning mine. Just wear items. Brakes and front end components. Had it leak coolant for about 2 weeks middle of winter out of no where then it stopped. No idea where from. Other than that everything works except rear parking sensors which can and do go bad. Just have to find the one that doesn't work and replace it. 135k miles.

2008 FX4 bought brand new off the lot. Power steering hose (we have very harsh winters which caused this) 4x4 solenoid was shot ($15 and can be changed easily by yourself), front and rear brakes, leak on my rear diff that I haven't fixed yet. Love this truck to death and will keep fixing it until ford makes a Lightning again :p

The only current issues on my '08 with 73,000 miles are the IWE's and a leaking drivers side exhaust manifold gasket. I'm planning on doing the IWE's this weekend.
As far as the exhaust leak goes, I'll tackle that one in the spring. The p.o. had the passenger side done sometime before I bought it. Other than a transfer case rear seal and a blend door actuator motor, I haven't had any other problems.

FYI, look for an '08 with a production date after late Feb 08. I believe this is when they switched over to the new spark plug design. Maybe someone else here can confirm this for you.

I just bought my 08 xlt a month ago but really like it. Any of the 5.4 engine build dates after 10-09-07 should have the updated heads/plugs, mine does however i didnt know this before i bought it, but got lucky I guess!! Hope the pic works as this is how I found out about the head/plug thing. Just a fyi, the engine build date will be on the driver side of the engine (not the truck build date)
As far as everything else, I really like the truck. I had a 97 f150 before and really like this one.

I owned my previous 05 5.4 Lariat for over 6 years, with no problems.
I now own a 08 5.4, it's only been about 4 months, so far so good.
If anything, I think the 08 should be the best year for this particular model?

Notice the models and dates for the 4.6 V8; the 2V 4.6 used in the F150's (2 valve) do not have this plug issue. Putting this in for future searches on this subject.
