Today I serviced my trans via dropping the pan. This is a new to me used F150 SCREW Lariat 4x4 w/ 86k yea the 1st owner drove. I am going through everything and getting it dialed in. FYI the mystery plug was still in the pan so it was it's first pan service.

I bought the filter at Autozone, Duralast TF403. Seemed to fit a bit sloppier than the OEM Motorcraft. When I installed it did not seat up as flush, kind of hung down about 3/4" at the rear.

Wondering if the pan holds the filter in place once installed? I went ahead and finished the service and it seems to be running fine.
