Default 2008 Screw - 5.4L Crawing issue

So I have a 2008 SuperCrew 5.4L - 6-1/2" box etc....

So my issue is this..when its hot outside and I am trying to creep up the driveway or creep forward at a light and I need to use some throttle, the truck will move then when it tries it idle down it hesitates. Almost like its stalling.

It was sound like the serpentine tensioner was hitting its limit, so I put a new tensioner in it...but that's not where the noise is coming from.

It only happens from like 900rpm to 1200 rpm range, it almost feel like its going to stall - like a caliper is sticking (none are, i've checked).

This was driving me nuts - so I put the truck in drive and with my foot on the break - and about 900 rpm - I can trace the ticking sound back tot he valve covers....but I think they are always noisy.

I am not sure why it is hesitating and gets noisy when its hot and I am trying to creep forward - it almost wants to stall out but it won't.
