2008 Lariat SCrew with Shackle Kit Pics

The only thing that didn't go smoothly for me was removing the dside leaf spring bolt. The instructions say to lift the spring until the bolt clears the top frame rail then you can remove it. This worked on the pside but on the dside there's something that sits between the top of the frame rail and bed that's in the way of removing that bolt. I had to lower the leaf spring down below the lower shackle frame mount in order to remove the bolt. You'll have the flex the spring slightly to clear the mount but it will go. Just be careful when lowering the spring because there's cables that run underneath the spring that stretch some was you lower it so just drop it only enough to remove the bolt, then quickly swap in the new shackle and get the spring back above that frame mount to avoid unecessarily stretching those cables.

Was wondering why some one had not thought of using a small hyd bottle jack to jack the spring away from the frame, using extreme caution not to let that jack slide loose. Did you take your ubolts on your axle apart or not?

I don't think there's that much lateral flex in the spring to do it. Lowering it was not a big deal at all...I just hate that I wasted so much time wrestling with it on the top side of the frame rail. (I still don't know what exactly that obstruction was...kinda looked like a flat rectangular weight that you see on universal gyms)
Yes, I removed the nuts all the way to install the shims, however when I did the axle rotated/slid foward where I had to jack up the front of the pumpkin ball to get things aligned again. In hindsight probably could have just unscrewed them to the very ends then jacked up the axle enough to slide them in the shims.

hey gimmefiddy,
You charlotte? So am I! I've been needing to find more of us! Other than SPFC there needs to be an F150 club around here that can maybe be recognized at the AutoFair every year! We really need to get one going if there isn't one already.
