2008 FX4.. what's it worth?
Spied this '08 (10/07 build) FX4 on a local lot.
VERY clean in and out, straight, no strange noises.
186,500 miles, one owner, business use.
They think its worth all of $10,500.
Feelings? Ideas? Opinions?
Snag it quick? Run like hell?

if it sounds like a diesel, run away as fast as you can or buy it for no more than 5,000. If your really looking to knock a couple bucks of the price, try out the 4 wheel drive. If it works awesome, if it doesn't well your in luck, easy, simple, and generally pretty cheap to fix, but the dealer doesn't know that. Take 2 grand of the top for that if it doesn't work. Check for water leakage into the cab from the brake light above the rear window. If you see any signs of water, take another couple hundred off. **Here's a big one I almost forgot, open the hood and look on left side of the engine, the passenger side exhaust manifold to be specific, check to make sure all the bolts are there, and that there is no cracks or anything suspicious looking about it. They are prone to cracking. If you see anything out of place, get out of there. Take it for a spin if everything else checks out, and listen for any clunks, cluds, or whirring sounds coming from the rear end. If you hear anything, it's possible it needs the rear ended rebuilt. No super expensive to tackle yourself. Check tires for even/un-even wearing. Hop under the bed of the truck and look under the spare tire, there is a module there prone to failure, it causes a lot of issues of its corroded although you said there was no rust, still worth a look. If you want to get really serious, bring a 8 mm wrench and remove one of the boots from the spark plugs, just to see if the spark plugs have ever been changed, a newer boot and a original look totally different and 9 times out of 10 if the spark plugs were done correctly, they changed the coil over packs. Good luck man

OP, I'd say most around me for that truck is around $8,500. Prices will change drastically with different locations.

To all poster, a big thank you.. I learned a lot...
The truck had been at this dealer for over two months, and was transferred to another lot..
I haven't tracked it down yet..
It's exactly what I need...
